Henri Gouges (1889-1967) acquired most of the vines that make up the domain today when prices fell due to the war. 1920 - Henri - Nuits Saint-Georges thus marked the beginning of the Gouges story. A pioneer and visionary of on-farm bottling, which he introduced in 1929, this fervent defender of Burgundy's heritage was at the origin of the law on Appellations Contrôlées and was a representative of Burgundy's wine industry on the INAO's steering committee. Henri Gouges' wines began to travel around the world when Pierre and Christian set about modernising wine-making techniques, always with one watchword: quality. For the past 15 years, the entire domain has been worked according to the principles of organic agriculture, under the era of responsibility and naturalness. Grégory and Antoine Gouges are in charge of this. The vines are located exclusively in Nuits Saint Georges and today cover almost 15 hectares. The domain has 10 appellations, including 7 Premiers Crus, 3 Bourgognes and 2 Villages.
The 2014 vintage produced rich and concentrated wines. The estate's monopole, the parcel is located just below Perrière where the soil is composed of pink Prémeaux limestone and rich in clay. On the palate, it's an explosion of ripe black fruit twirling with aromas of roast, cigar leaf and peony. Huge potential.
