The origin of the Puligny Montrachet family vines goes back to the eighteenth century. However, it is only two hundred years later that the vineyard is truly rendered valuable. In 1920, Joseph Leflaive undertook to replant and extend the estate and chose new rootstocks with the help of a friend, François Virot. The third generation then marked a turning point with Anne-Claude Leflaive that impulsed a switch to biodynamics and produced remarkable and remarked wines. Nowadays, the great-grandson of the founder Brice de la Morandière perpetuates the philosophy of his predecessors.
The vines date back to 1959. They give a splendid Puligny all about sweetness, with honey, butter, and vanilla aromas. The salty finish is astonishing. You can pair it blindfolded with pasta, salmon, and tuna dishes, or a platter of crustaceans, mild cheeses, or cold cuts.
