Le domaine

Maison Louis Jadot is made up of several domains : Louis Jadot and Héritiers Louis Jadot, Duc de Magenta and Gagey, Château des Jacques in Beaujolais, Ferret in Fuissé and a domain in Oregon. 225 hectares of remarkable vines in Grand Cru, Premier Cru or Appellation Village make this house a historical player. The story begins in 1826 with the acquisition of the Clos des Ursules, then the foundation of the house in 1859. This parcel has remained in the Jadot family ever since. The central and southern parts of the vineyard give powerful, tannic wines with a deep color. The northern part gives softer wines and generally of less deep color. Over time, an environmentally friendly agriculture is implemented and some parts of the domain are converted to biodynamic agriculture.

The wine

This wine has a nose of red fruits with notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, and an animal nuance as the wine ages. It is a supple wine with good tannins. It will go perfectly well with roasts, grilled or pan-fried meats in its youth, and as it ages, with meats in sauce, game and cheeses that are not too strong.
