The domain

Initially known for his contribution to scientific research and the publication of an important treatise on powdery mildew in the mid-19th century, James Ramsey Dow's real success came from the merger of his company Dow & Co with Silva & Cosens in 1877. It was the combination of the leading minds of these families that led to Dow's expansion. However, the adoption of the Dow name as the brand name stems from the recognition that Dow & Co gained at the time as a producer of excellent Vintage Port. The Symington family began managing the farms as early as 1961 and preserved both the character and tradition of the predecessors who created the company.

The wine

With a very dark color, between black and purple, this wine is complex and intensely concentrated, full-bodied and harmonious. On the nose, concentrated notes of violet that evolve towards cinnamon and rose tea with age. On the palate, fine and spicy tannins, fruit and wild berry notes. The high percentage of Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional grapes gives it a powerful and potential structure. To taste with a camembert, foie gras, chocolate mousse...
