The domain

A former military fortress, the Château de Santenay culminates in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune with its remarkable glazed tile roof. Transformed through the ages, from the 9th to the 15th century, the Château went from being a dwelling house to the headquarters of an important 95-hectare wine estate. Its mosaic of vineyard parcels, located between Mercurey and Gevrey-Chambertin, offers a great diversity of wines whose nuances and subtleties are based on exceptional soils.

The wine

The specific climate of the 1er Cru "Les Champs Martin" produces first-class wines: structured, dense with notes of black fruits and a mineral, graphite background. Solid, powerful and elegant wines with a good ageing potential. This wine has a deep garnet color with bluish hues and is concentrated in a mixture of blackberry aromas and elegant woody notes. The mouth is ample, fat with powerful tannins. A beautiful length in mouth on an aromatic complexity with the presence of black fruits, woody and spicy notes.
